Over the past 20 years  I’ve been free-lancing for leading magazines, mainly about luxury travel to some of the planet’s stratospheric places. My subjects have included everything from high-end hotels in Italy, where I lived for 10 years in my earlier life as an American diplomat, to private islands in the Seychelles and Zanzibar and five-star  safari lodges all over southern Africa. Most of these stories were aimed at ultra-affluent readers of ForbesLife, The Robb Report, and Capitol File, the Niche Media magazine covering my home town, Washington, D.C. I’ve also written extensively for National Geographic Traveler and for Hemispheres, the United Airlines in-flight magazine, about Washington’s top restaurants and attractions. You’ll find examples of these, along with selected clips, on the following pages.
I’m also the author of three guidebooks, one of which, “Washington D.C.: Off the Beaten Path” (Globe-Pequot Press) has just gone into its fifth edition. My other two guides were “Literary Cities of Italy,” a Baedeker to the literary landmarks of Rome, Florence, and Venice, and “Wines of Virginia,” a handbook to Virginia wines.
I’m offering this experience to magazines and websites interested in either enhancing their presence in  the luxury travel market or expanding their coverage of Washington, D.C.
